We have some great worship experiences planned, see below and watch your email this
week for more information. If you are not receiving the church emails, please let us know by emailing: jkinzer@emmanuelmemphis.org
If you received your Holy Week package in the mail, you may already have these linked resources. But in case you would like to share with others or have extra we have included the entire package for our Holy Week schedule below.

Family Activity – Pretzels: A Lenten Tradition
In your Holy Week packet, we’ve provided a great activity for the whole family to do – making pretzels. You can read the story of why this practice is a holy week tradition and find a recipe so that you can make your own. Click HERE for a copy
Tuesday, April 7
In your holy week packet, there are four daily devotional pages with activities on the back of each one. These were specifically designed for the homebound, and we encourage you to share them with others.
We remember, especially today, those who are quarantining alone at home and feeling separated and cut off from family members. We know not everyone has email, internet or zoom making those folks feel even more isolated. Today would be a great day to reach out to someone you know who could use a phone call.
Share with them that they can listen to this week’s sermon by calling 901-329-6339.
Wednesday, April 8
HOly Thursday, April 9, love feast, 7 PM
Emmanuel will live stream a Holy Thursday Love Feast as we remember Jesus’ last supper with his disciples. You will want to have some “comfort food” ready as we share together in the meal – something to eat and drink (anything you want.) If possible, sit at the table you would normally use to eat your meals, and prepare your worship space with a candle and other items that help to put you in a frame of mind to worship.

Good Friday, April 10, Journey to the Cross, 7-8 pm
Good Friday is the day Jesus was crucified on a cross, and the day Emmanuel has held the Journey to the Cross service for the past 12 years. Since we are unable to take the Journey together at the church building this year, we’ve mailed you the guide to “Journey to the Cross” in your Holy Week Packet so that all of us can take the Journey to the Cross at home.
The Journey to the Cross guide is available HERE. The digital version works well if you have an ipad or laptop computer allowing you to scroll through each page. Also, using both the link and the printed version will allow households of more than one to participate in the Journey at the same time.
All the information you need to join in the Journey is printed at the beginning of the Journey guide, so give yourself some time before the service to read that first page and prepare your space. We would love for everyone to join in the Journey on Friday evening between 7 and 8 PM, but of course any time that day will work.
Saturday, April 11
We invite you to help us decorate Emmanuel’s floral cross so that it may be used as a part of our Easter Service on Sunday, April 12. The cross will be located outside the main doors of the sanctuary at the top of the new stairs (Messick side of the church.)
If it is safe for you to do so, please bring flowers and greenery from your yard and place them on the cross (or in the buckets next to the cross) anytime between 8 AM and 6 PM on Saturday.
We advise you to practice physical distancing if others are at the cross when you arrive, please WAIT IN YOUR CAR and approach one family at a time. Practice patience, please.
We would love for you to take a selfie while you are at the cross and share it with @EUMCMemphis #eumcEaster2020 or email to a staff member.
Easter Sunday, April 12
Even though Easter Sunday is not what we planned, we know that when we do get to be safely together inside the sanctuary again, we will celebrate the resurrection all over again! What a glorious moment that will be.
