Celebrate Advent and Christmas at Emmanuel

As the Advent season unfolds, Emmanuel United Methodist Church warmly invites you to partake in a series of events designed to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s birth. Here’s a glimpse into our upcoming gatherings:

Advent Worship Series and services

Our December worship series is inspired by the book On the Way to Bethlehem by United Methodist pastor Rob Fuquay.

By focusing on the places that shaped the path of Jesus’ birth narrative, we learn more about why his life, ministry, and death became one of the most significant narratives of human history.

And so, we are going on an Advent journey to these places “on the way to Bethlehem.” Each week takes us to a different place and to hear about a significant event that leads us ultimately to a stable and a manger.

We are so often focused on the destination in our travels. “Where are you going?” is the most common question upon hearing that someone is heading out of town.

While the destination is perhaps the impetus for deciding to “go,” it is often the journey itself that offers the most memorable moments–frustrating or delightful.

This Advent season, we will pay attention not just to the destination of Christmas, but also to the places where events occurred that led to a starry night on which a child was born who would change the world. And we will ponder our own milestones–the progress and the potholes “on the way.”

Join us each Sunday at 8:50 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. as we journey to Bethlehem. The 11:00 a.m. service is also live streamed for those who wish to join us online.

Tour of Bethlehem

Join us during the Advent season for a beautiful collection of Nativity scenes displayed in the Commons. Take your time to explore the various sets, each with its own unique charm and story.

Enjoy a cozy cup of coffee or cocoa, and indulge in a sweet treat as you reflect on the season. It’s a wonderful opportunity to slow down and celebrate the joy and meaning of Advent.

Women’s Christmas Gift Exchange

On Friday, December 6, the women of Emmanuel are invited to a festive gift exchange. This gathering provides an opportunity to share in the joy of giving and to strengthen the bonds of our community during this special season.

Join us on Sunday, December 8, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary for our cherished Festival of Christmas. This event features uplifting music from our combined choirs, handbell ensembles, and the Jazz Combo.

A reception in the Fellowship Hall will follow the program, offering a time for fellowship and festive treats.
