Dr. Wade Cox

Dr. Wade Cox joined the pastoral team of Emmanuel United Methodist Church as Senior Pastor in July 2017. Wade, his wife, Susan, and their children, Davis and Brooke, are thrilled God has led them to the Emmanuel family.

Wade is a native Mississippian, starting his Methodist roots in Columbus, and has been serving in West TN for over 25 years. A graduate of Ole Miss, Wade earned a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and obtained his Doctorate of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary. He has served churches in Millington, Dyersburg, Medina, and Covington and is secretary of the Memphis Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.

Building relationships, caring for and leading God’s people, sharing His word, and connecting people to Christ are the cornerstones of Wade’s ministry. He believes in helping each person in the church find a place to connect and a place to serve. A rich blessing in pastoring God’s people is seeing their lives changed by Christ!

Wade strives to live by the words of his favorite Bible passage, Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” He looks forward to all God will accomplish through the people of this congregation!

Brother Wade and the members of Emmanuel United Methodist Church invite you to join us as we seek to follow God in growing His kingdom in Memphis and beyond!
