Room in the Inn is a program in Memphis that sets up winter shelters for the homeless in our community through local churches.
We at Emmanuel are excited to be one of several congregations in Memphis that offers Room In The Inn, providing dinner and breakfast; and a warm, safe place to sleep for the homeless in Memphis one night a week during the coldest winter months.
Emmanuel’s night is Saturday starting with November 5, 2016 and continuing through March 25, 2017.
We need your help to make this mission a success, so please consider signing up for any number of the volunteer opportunities listed below. You may sign up as an individual or as a group (Sunday school class, men’s club, Bible study, youth group, confirmands, school group, etc). Room In The Inn is a mission in which people of all ages can get involved and make a difference!
Contact Jackie Spear with any additional questions or assistance in signing up at firstname.lastname@example.org or 901-754-6548.

Reasons for Room In the Inn:
– 37,000 homeless people die each year.
– Most die due to complications arising from inadequate shelter.
– Many freeze to death each winter.
– Churches are empty and warm every night.
– We’re trying to change this…
Here’s a great article by the author, Ann Patchett, about the founder of Room in the Inn, Charlie Strobel.
